Locker room thefts
Locker Room Thefts – Crimewatch Wednesday 27th January 2010 – 9.00p.m.
Further to my recent articles in The Golf Club Secretary and the Golf Club Management Magazine I have been requested by D S David Atherton of Lancashire police to try to encourage as many Golf Club Secretaries and Managers as possible to watch Crimewatch on Wednesday, 27th January at 9.00p.m.
Some extremely good CCTV and still pictures of the perpetrators of the locker room break-ins which have affected 40+ clubs across the country will be shown.
The thieves, despite selling the stolen items at ridiculously low prices on an E-Bay site have still obtained proceeds in excess of £110,000.
You are asked to not only to watch but to encourage as many of your staff and members as possible to watch as this will be the best chance to recognise the culprits and bring them to justice.
As clubs from Devon up to Cumbria and the North East have been involved and their accents have been described as from Liverpool in one instance and the Midlands in another it is important that we do all we can to identify them by involving as many clubs as possible.
The Lancashire police will have 8 officers manning the telephones in the call centre ready to receive any positive information on the thieves are.
There will be an update from 10.45 – 11.00 as to any progress made.
Your assistance would be appreciated to ensure this message is communicated to as many people as possible.
