Trolley Policy

as Approved by the Greens Committee, Wednesday 13th January, 2010.

Background

The Greens Committee is acutely aware of the negative feedback from aspects of the membership over the recent introduction of a full ban on the use of electronic trolleys. This was instigated at the behest of the Course Manager in an effort to in particular protect the walkways between each green and tee. There is evidence that electronic trolleys, in seeking to obtain traction, tear the top surface and if repeated in a small area a muddy path way will very quickly evolve.

However in seeking to balance concerns over potential damage to the course with that of wishing to ensure all members enjoy their golf during the winter, the committee intends to remove the general electronic ban, introducing revised walk ways from green to tee, in the form of a roped off pathway.

Thereafter the following represent the Club’s policy on the use of trolleys during the winter months:-

Pull Trolleys - may be used at all times.

Electronic Trolleys - winter wheels- may be used at all times.

Electronic Trolleys - standard wheels- may be used other than in extreme conditions, ultimately at the discretion of the Course Manager.

Single Seater Sit On Buggies - may be used at all times for those with health conditions, as supported by a doctor’s note.

Two Seater Standard Buggies -banned throughout the winter, other than at the discretion of the Course Manager.

The Greens Committee would urge those that are not reliant on an electronic buggy to either carry their clubs or use a pull trolley whenever possible.

We trust you find the above agreeable.

David Hannis

Chairman of Greens.

Grooves

December 23, 2009
1. New rules on groove size and shape: This will add a fascinating dimension to the new season. Groove edges in the professional game will have to be more rounded and will have less depth. The result should be less control on shots from the rough so there will be a greater premium on finding fairways from the tee. "As much as it won't suit my game, it is a good decision," says three-time major winner Padraig Harrington. The feeling among the pros is that the move will put the onus on skill an...

Tuesday booking on

November 23, 2009

The members reserved tee time is to be extended on Tuesdays until 10.30 am but tee times will need to be booked online.   Starting on Dec. 1st, the Seniors competition sheet will be put on the Seniors notice board but with no spaces to put our names – just a note that everyone must book online.   This means we will be able to reserve a time between 8 am and 10.30 am (earlier in summer).   It may even be possible to book on after 10.30 am if not already booked by visitors.

This seems to sat...

For a trial period of one year (to take into account all seasons) your council have decided, with immediate effect, to relax the Club House dress code.

Smart jeans will be permitted but members would not be expected to wear work jeans. Casual shoes will be permitted provided they are smart. We should aim to provide an atmosphere where all members and their guests are made to feel welcome and comfortable in their surroundings.
